Why Don't Gym Workouts Lead to Weight Loss?


When women become gym members for dieting purposes, many probably head straight to the treadmill, don't they? Many women exercise on treadmills because they don't know what to do in the weight area.

These exercises are cardio exercises - the type that don't increase muscle mass.

Please listen while looking at the diagram below.

Basal metabolic rate accounts for 70% of calorie consumption in the body. How can you increase basal metabolic rate? The only way is to increase muscle mass. Unfortunately, treadmill running, which is cardio exercise, moves muscles but isn't the type of exercise that increases muscle.

Including these considerations, increasing muscle mass is the primary condition for diet and body shaping.

Walking, jogging, swimming, and water walking are types of exercise that don't increase muscle.

Moreover, these only consume calories through "activity metabolism," which accounts for only 20% of the body's energy expenditure. Even if you work hard walking for an hour at the gym, the calories you can burn are less than one rice ball.
