Why Don't Spa Diets Help You Lose Weight?

 

Some women may have had the bitter experience of attending spas but not losing weight at all.

Spa massage can make you lose weight by kneading muscles...
Spa massage can increase basal metabolism by improving lymphatic flow...
Spa pelvic massage can make you lose weight by improving pelvic condition...

To conclude first: physiologically, weight loss through spas is impossible.


Why Don't Spas Help You Lose Weight?


Spa massage diets, spa pelvic diets, spa leg slimming diets - physiologically, spa weight loss treatments have no scientific basis from the perspective of body mechanisms that enable dieting, fat reduction, or increased basal metabolism.

Please see the diagram below. To lose weight, you can only increase basal metabolic rate, increase activity level, or increase UCP/DIT on the right side of the equation.

It's easy to understand that the quickest approach to dieting is to increase basal metabolism, which accounts for 70% of the above.

To increase basal metabolism, you must increase muscle mass.

Let's examine spas from the perspective of "increasing muscle mass."

Muscle physiologically, increasing muscle requires the following two process conditions:

① Physical Process
Muscles have the property of adapting to gravitational environments. For example, just as astronauts return to Earth unsteady after space travel, muscles deteriorate in zero-gravity environments. Conversely, muscles have the property of increasing when subjected to loads that create gravitational environments exceeding Earth's 1G.

② Chemical Process
Growth hormone. Growth hormone is secreted due to low-oxygen conditions within muscles caused by muscle contraction and extension.

These two conditions are essential requirements for increasing muscle.

Now, do spas meet these conditions?

Unfortunately, they don't meet any of them. Muscle physiologically, it's impossible to increase muscle through spa massage or spa pelvic adjustment for weight loss purposes.

Let's consider one more aspect: "energy consumption (activity metabolic rate)."

The physical law states: "Object weight × movement distance = energy consumption." Since spa pelvic adjustment and spa massage involve no movement distance, there's absolutely no energy consumption and zero activity level.

In Japan, the spa industry developed rapidly from around the 1980s. It implanted the image of "spa = diet" in consumers' minds, responding to women's desire to lose weight and diet. Stories of "I didn't lose weight at all at spas," "only expensive loans remained," and "they pushed expensive supplements and beauty devices on me" became social problems several years ago. In fact, one major spa company went bankrupt because of this.

Not knowing how to diet, being unable to handle it alone...
Trying various diet and body shaping information but not losing weight at all...

The feeling of grasping at straws is completely understandable. However, there is no diet or body shaping that can be accomplished purely passively - doing absolutely nothing yourself while only receiving spa massage or pelvic treatments.

In America, "spa" means spa - that is, relaxation. In America, the advanced country in dieting, no women think about dieting at spas. The concept of dieting at spas doesn't exist anywhere except Japan. Don't you think this means that spas can't help with dieting?

Japanese spas often push expensive supplements or protein products when treatments don't work for weight loss. This is a method of temporarily losing weight by filling the stomach with protein or supplements as meal replacements.

When doing body shaping and dieting, wise judgment is necessary to avoid wasting your precious time and money.

However, spas seem suitable for purposes other than diet and body shaping, such as beautiful skin, relaxation, and hair removal. Using spas according to your purpose is recommended.
